A film that follows Yankunytjatjara man Derik Lynch's road trip back to Country for spiritual healing, as memories from his childhood return. A journey from white city life in Adelaide, back home to his remote Anangu Community (Aputula) to perform on sacred Inma ground.
Inma is a traditional form of storytelling using the visual, verbal, and physical. It is how Anangu Tjukurpa (story connected to country / dreaming / myth / lore) have been passed down for over 60,000+ years from generation to generation.
Derik says of the film:
“My story can relate to that in many different ways, and I think it will be most important for young traditional fellas. Our history is ancient and special – that knowledge from 60,000 years of history shows money can’t buy you culture and connection. Dipped in Black shows the importance of country and why it’s important to return to country and reconnect with your land, people and family."
